Whirlwind Holiday

Sheer exhaustion. Not only for mom and dad but for Charlotte. As you can tell by the picture she was very happy sleeping in the dog bed. This was on Christmas Day, just a few hours after her cousins left. She was wore out.

The holidays always seem to go by so fast, this year being no exception to that rule. It's hard to believe it's over all ready. New Years Eve has come and gone, and Christmas seems like it happened months ago, not last week.

Charlotte had so much fun playing with her cousin Liam in the days leading up to Christmas. They would color together, play with the trains together, and chase each other around the house. It was the first time we really witnessed Charlotte playing with someone else, not just playing near someone else. They got along amazingly well and slept in the same room together for both naps and bed time. There was nothing more sweet than listening at the bedroom door to Charlotte and Liam talking to each other about princesses and trains, even if it was at 5:30 am.

As we got closer to Christmas we decided to all go on a sleigh ride in the woods of Vermont near Mount Snow. We all piled in the back of a horse drawn sleigh and off we went. Stopping numerous times along the way for the horses to rest. Halfway through the ride we arrived at an old log cabin. Inside was hot chocolate, a fire to warm your feet by, and a real player piano. Talk about a work out trying to pump that thing full of air so it would play! Charlotte also thought she saw one of Santa's Elf's. We snapped a quick picture. After further study it was just Uncle Ian.

Christmas arrived early. The kids were up and ready to see the loot that Santa left for them. Amongst the oodles of gifts was a mini Dyson vacuum cleaner for Charlotte. She loved it. (so did Liam and we bet it will make it on his list to Santa for next year). Everyone loved opening their gifts. Even the dogs. Well I shouldnt say that. Eventually Charlotte learned that opening clothes was not a fun as opening gifts of toys. When she opened a gift and found clothes she would scream and cry NO NO CLOTHES.

.....to be continued......
