Dad gets excited about electronic gadgets, televisions, stereos, computers. Mom, well she gets amped up about her new Kitchen Aid Mixer. She has baked more in the past 4 days than she has since the time we have met. Now she is teaching Charlotte to bake. I laugh, but the girl is a natural and has really taken a liking to the mixer. Strange as that may sound. She loves shoes and mixers. Yes, I will take a picture of all of her shoes. She must have 10 pairs!
Today was also picture day. Siblings were allowed so we dolled Maeve up in her best striped outfit. Dad thinks she looks like she should be in prison. But she is still cute.

OK Shelby, no excuse now. Try your hand at homemade Italian bread. Three or 4 ingredients, the machine does all the work. and you can drive everyone nuts while its baking.
1 pkg yeast
3 c flour
water up to 3/4 cup
1/2 teas salt
1 teas sugar
tbl olive oil
Use mixers
mix yeast with 1/2 c warm water, sugar and 1 teas oil in mixer bowl. let it sit for a few minutes until it starts to bubble. add 1 c flour, mix until smooth then add the rest of the flour a little at a time. Mixing after each addition. Once it become a little bit tough to blend put on the kneading hook. Let it go for a number of minutes, maybe 10. oil up a bowl, pat the dough into a nice ball, throw it in the oiled bowl and turn it over so all the dough has a light coating of oil. Cover the bowl with a warm damp towel. let it rise until doubled, stick your finger in it, if the dent stays its ready. put your fist into the middle then let it sit a for a few minutes. Then shape it into a loaf or long italian bread shape. You can let it rise again (cover with towel) or go ahead and put in a 450 oven. Another rising will make it more tender but either way it tastes great.
I love using my kitchenaide for bread, I just wish I had more time to explore all the recipes.
